Sonia Chintha is an Indian-American, queer writer. Originally from Hyderabad, India, she is an immigrant transplant who grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is a self-taught poet who goes against the classical grain.
She is a free verse poet at heart who loves a well-thought haiku once in a while. Poems are her favorite mode, but she started as an essayist modeling writing for her students. An English teacher turned Education Technology Specialist, she writes everyday, all the time, to heal, to understand, to make art.
Her debut chapbook, The Burning, tells the story of falling for an institution when it does not reciprocate your feelings.
